Mortgages for foreigners – Key information

  • Eligibility: Based on income, documentation, and residency status; criteria vary by bank
  • Income & residency: Czech residency or well-documented foreign income may improve available conditions
  • Fixed-rate periods: Most commonly 3 or 5 years; terms range from 1 to 10 years
  • Early repayment: Generally permitted at the end of the fixed-rate period, subject to contract terms
  • Loan term: Up to 30 years, typically limited by borrower's age (usually around 70)
  • In-person requirements: In most cases, one visit to Prague is sufficient for signing and account opening
